The University of Konstanz is a public university in Germany, located in Konstanz, Baden-Württemberg, and founded in 1966. It was established as a new type of university, meaning it does not have traditional internal divisions into institutes and features a unique infrastructure and educational approach.

The University of Konstanz is part of the German Excellence Universities, making it one of Germany’s most elite institutions. Although the university in its current form was founded in 1966, it had existed as part of the University of Freiburg in the 16th and 17th centuries before becoming an independent institution.

Today, the University of Konstanz has around 12,000 students, including international students from over 100 countries. It offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in more than 100 study programs. The university is highly focused on international collaboration, with about 220 partner universities worldwide.
