The University of Hannover is a public university in Germany, located in Hannover, Lower Saxony, and founded in 1831. It is one of Germany’s largest and oldest universities for science and technology. The university is a member of TU9, an alliance of nine leading technical universities in Germany. Initially established as a technical institute, it later developed into one of Germany’s top universities.
The university is named after the renowned German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. It is the second-largest university in Lower Saxony, following the University of Göttingen, and is part of the Lower Saxony Technical Higher Education Network. Today, the University of Hannover has approximately 26,000 students, including 2,500 international students. The university offers around 190 bachelor's and master's degree programs.
