Mainz University (The Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz) – a public university in Germany, located in Mainz, and founded in 1477.

Originally established as the University of Mainz in the 15th century, it is one of the oldest and largest universities not only in Germany but in all of Europe. Since 1946, the university has been named after Johannes Gutenberg, the German inventor of the printing press. It is considered one of Germany’s most prestigious universities, particularly in the fields of natural sciences and economics. Today, the university has approximately 36,500 students from over 100 countries worldwide.

The wide range of academic programs reflects the university's large scale – students can choose from 106 bachelor’s and 116 master’s programs across 75 different fields of study.
