Leuphana University Lüneburg – a public university in Germany, located in Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, and founded in 1946. Notably, the city of Lüneburg is only 50 kilometers from Hamburg. Initially established as a college, the institution later evolved into a full-fledged university. The name Leuphana comes from an ancient historical settlement on the Elbe River, first mentioned by Ptolemy in the 2nd century AD.
