University of Essex | The University of Essex is a public research university in the United Kingdom.

The decision to establish the university was made in 1961, and in 1963, the first professors were appointed. By 1964, the university welcomed its first 122 students.
That same year, several faculties and centers were founded, including chemistry, economics, political science, literature, mathematics, physics, sociology, linguistics center, computing center.
In 1965, Essex was granted university status by Royal Charter. In 1968, the Department of History and Theory of Art was established. By 1970, the university had around 2,000 students, and today, its student body has grown nearly sevenfold.

The University of Essex has three campuses: Colchester, Loughton, Southend. All campuses are located in beautiful natural surroundings, with parkland, lakes, and scenic views. The campus infrastructure is highly developed, offering everything needed for education, entertainment, and an active lifestyle, including cafés, bars, and shops, dining halls, a theater on each campus, studios and galleries, computer labs, sports centers. The Sub Zero nightclub, owned by the University of Essex Student Union, has received multiple awards.

The campuses of the University of Essex feature an architectural style typical of British universities built in the 1960s—modernist structures made of mirrored glass, concrete, and steel.

Accommodation:
The University of Essex offers a wide range of rooms and apartments to suit students’ needs, preferences, and budgets. All accommodation is within walking distance of the main campuses and has 24/7 security for student residences.

Student apartments are available only at two campuses: Colchester and Southend. All newly admitted students are guaranteed a room on campus.
