Swansea University is a public research university and the third-largest university in Wales by student population.

It was founded in July 1920 by King George V, starting with just 89 students, a number that grew to 485 over the next 19 years. Originally, the university had only two buildings – Singleton Abbey (now home to the university administration) and the library.
In 1960, under the leadership of J. S. Fulton, a decision was made to expand the campus and construct new buildings. The first expansions included тew student residencesб Mathematics and Natural Sciences building, Fulton House, etc.

Today, Swansea University has two campuses: Singleton Park and the Bay. Both have direct access to beautiful beaches while remaining close to the city center. Singleton Park Campus is the main site and covers a large area, home to four colleges and Swansea Medical School. The campus also features Singleton Park, the historic Singleton Abbey, a library and student information centers, Taliesin Arts Centre, an art gallery, the Egyptian Culture Museum, as well as various cafeterias and catering facilities. The beach is an integral part of campus life, offering a dedicated center for beach and water sports.

Several student support information centers are available for international students. The university also offers outstanding sports facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, a large sports complex with a spacious gym, indoor courts, running tracks, fields, and game courts. About 30 miles from Singleton Park, St David’s Park serves as a specialized facility for clinical practice, providing students with state-of-the-art equipment to enhance their medical skills.

The Bay Campus is significantly smaller than the main campus but also enjoys a beachfront location. It houses two colleges, the 52° café bar, the Great Hall concert venue, the Bay Library with 650 study spaces, and the Sport Swansea center, which features courts for basketball, volleyball, and badminton, along with several well-equipped gyms.

Swansea Students' Union plays a vital role in student life, organizing a variety of events and activities. It runs a student newspaper, TV and radio stations, and provides entertainment venues such as an on-campus bar and club. Students can also seek advice and join one of the 50 sports clubs or 120 student societies. The university’s excellent location allows students to balance their studies with leisure, enjoying both nature and an active social life.
