The foundation of
Middlesex University London dates back to St Katharine's College, which was established in 1878. Later, when seven other colleges from North London merged with St Katharine’s, Middlesex Polytechnic was formed in 1973. Two decades later, the institution was awarded the Royal Charter and officially became a university.
Today,
