Regent’s University London is an independent, non-profit university and one of only five private universities in the UK. In 2012-2013, it was granted the right to award official bachelor's and master's degrees to students.
The history of Regent’s University began in 1984, when the campus, originally part of Bedford College, was transferred to Rockford College, Illinois, USA. At that time, Regent’s College was established as part of a study abroad program for American students, who first arrived in 1985. The program remained popular for many years. Over time, Regent’s College expanded as other institutions joined:
- European Business School (EBS) – 1985,
- School of Psychotherapy and Counselling – 1990,
- Regent’s Business School – 2006, leading to the formation of Regent’s College London,
- Programs in Dramatic Arts, Film, and Media – launched in 2010,
- Fashion and Design programs – introduced in 2013.
