Today,
Coventry University is a globally recognized institution with nearly 30,000 students.
However, its history began with a small college – Coventry College of Design, founded in 1843.
- In 1970, the college merged with Lanchester College of Technology and Rugby College of Engineering Technology, forming Lanchester Polytechnic.
- In 1987, it was renamed Coventry Polytechnic.
- In 1992, it gained university status and adopted its current name – Coventry University.
Modern Coventry University has three campuses – the
main campus in Coventry, a campus in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and another in London.
The campuses are constantly expanding and improving. Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including medical laboratories, design and engineering labs, performing arts studios, and computer centers. The university also oversees three professional development centers.
The main campus, located in the heart of Coventry, consists of 20 buildings, including two newly built state-of-the-art facilities: The Hub and The Engineering & Computing Building, featuring the latest technology.
